Before you commit to your kitchen plan, get an independent expert review.

You already have a kitchen layout. Now you need to know whether it actually works before cabinetry is ordered, appliances are finalized, or construction begins.

The Kitchen Layout Check is an independent professional review of your proposed kitchen plan. I look at how the layout works as a whole, from circulation and clearances to appliance placement, usable work space and the relationships between individual elements.

You’ll come away knowing what works, what needs attention, and what I would resolve before moving forward.

THIS IS FOR YOU IF....

You already have a proposed kitchen layout from a cabinet supplier, architect, designer, contractor, or one you developed yourself, but you’re not completely confident about approving it.

Maybe something feels off. Maybe you’ve received different opinions. Maybe the plan technically fits, but you’re unsure how well it will function in real life.

Or maybe you simply want an independent second set of expert eyes before committing tens of thousands of dollars to cabinetry, appliances and construction.

The Layout Check gives you a clear professional assessment while there is still time to make informed changes.

WHAT YOU'LL RECEIVE

A clear layout assessment

Your review will tell you whether the plan is:

Ready to Move Forward
The overall layout is sound and no significant planning issues were identified.

Resolve Before Ordering
The overall direction works, but there are specific issues I recommend resolving before approving cabinetry or appliances.

Reconsider the Layout
The issues are significant enough that I recommend revisiting the layout before committing to the current plan.

Annotated plan
Comments and observations are marked directly on your plan so you can see exactly where each issue occurs.

Prioritized findings

Findings are organized into:

  • Resolve before ordering
  • Worth reconsidering
  • Works as planned

Next-step recommendations
You’ll know what to confirm, discuss or address with your cabinet supplier, contractor, architect, appliance dealer or other project professionals before moving forward.

TURNAROUND

Completed within 3 business days

Once all required files and project information have been received, your Kitchen Layout Check will be completed within three business days.

WHAT I REVIEW

I review the proposed layout as a complete kitchen system, including:

  • circulation and aisle clearances
  • appliance placement and interactions
  • door and drawer conflicts
  • work zones and workflow
  • usable countertop and landing space
  • sink, dishwasher and cooking relationships
  • refrigerator access and surrounding clearances
  • cabinetry placement and functional concerns
  • potential planning issues visible in the drawings
  • elevations and vertical relationships, when elevations are provided

The goal is to identify parts of the plan that may create conflicts or need attention, as well as the parts that are working well so you know what does not need to be second-guessed.

WHAT I NEED FROM YOU

You do not need to prepare new drawings specifically for this review. Send the planning documents you already have.

Required

  • A dimensioned floor plan showing the proposed kitchen layout
  • Appliance model numbers or manufacturer specification sheets

If available

  • Kitchen elevations

Elevations allow me to review additional vertical relationships, cabinetry conditions and appliance integration. If they are not available, the review will be based on what can reasonably be evaluated from the floor plan and appliance information provided.

You can also tell me what, if anything, you are particularly unsure about so I can pay special attention to those concerns.

WHAT THIS SERVICE IS AND WHAT IT IS NOT:

The Kitchen Layout Check is an independent review of an existing proposed layout.

It is not a redesign service.

If I believe the layout itself should be reconsidered, I will tell you what is creating the concern and why. Developing a new layout or producing revised design drawings is outside the scope of the Layout Check.

If you already know that your layout needs to change and want help determining what the kitchen should look like instead, a kitchen design service will be the better fit.
